YouTube SEO: videos that keep getting found for years
YouTube is the second largest search engine after Google. If you show up there with the right videos for the right questions, you get views without an advertising budget, and not just in the week after publishing but for months and years. That is what YouTube SEO is about. I look after channels for businesses and creators from Striegistal in Mittelsachsen, on site around Chemnitz and Dresden, and anywhere else by video call.
What YouTube SEO covers
YouTube SEO means preparing videos and the whole channel so that YouTube surfaces them in search, on the home feed and in recommendations. Unlike classic search engine optimisation, backlinks do not matter here. Viewer behaviour does: Is the video clicked, how long is it watched, and do people keep watching afterwards?
- Keyword and topic research: What does your audience actually search for, and which questions are still poorly answered?
- Titles, descriptions and metadata: precise, relevant to search and still written so people want to click.
- Thumbnail and click-through strategy: a recognisable style that holds its own against other videos in the recommendation column.
- Channel structure: channel description, playlists, end screens and cards, so one view turns into several.
- Content strategy: a publishing plan built for lasting discoverability rather than short-lived trends.
- Analysis: reading click-through rate, watch time and audience retention in YouTube Studio and deriving the next steps.
How we work together
- First conversation: goals, audience and the current state of the channel. By video call, phone or on site in the region.
- Channel audit: a structured review with a prioritised list of actions. Details on the YouTube channel audit page.
- Implementation: existing videos are re-optimised, new videos get the right titles, descriptions and thumbnails from the start.
- Content plan: topics people search for, in an order that builds the channel step by step.
- Ongoing support: monthly analysis, strategy adjustments and, if you wish, complete channel management.
Who YouTube SEO is worth it for
For businesses whose customers have questions before they buy, and for creators who want to stop depending on the algorithm. A tradesperson explaining how to service a heat pump, a studio showing its rooms, a club presenting its training: all of them benefit from a video answering a common question that keeps working. The prerequisite is a topic people actually search for. Whether that is the case for you is something we clarify honestly in the first conversation.
Two projects from practice are described under case studies on the home page: an entertainment venue with event and short-form video marketing, and a channel about sustainable beekeeping.
Experience in numbers
Over 1,200 published videos, more than 25 million YouTube views generated and more than 17 digital channels managed, over 7 of them monetised. The figures come from the channels I look after and are listed on the home page.
YouTube SEO in Mittelsachsen, Chemnitz and Dresden
I work from Striegistal in the district of Mittelsachsen, roughly halfway between Chemnitz and Dresden. On-site appointments in the region are possible by arrangement, for example for a shooting day or an introduction to YouTube Studio. Everything else runs by video call, phone and email, which is why I also look after channels across Germany and abroad. Support is available in German and English.
Frequently asked questions
How long does it take for YouTube SEO to work?
Changes to titles, descriptions and thumbnails usually show up in the click-through rate within a few weeks. Building lasting reach takes longer, because it depends on regular publishing and the development of the channel as a whole.
Do I have to produce new videos for this?
Not necessarily. The first step is often to re-optimise existing videos, because material and views are already there. New videos are then added specifically for topics that are searched for and still missing.
What is the difference between YouTube SEO and classic SEO?
Classic SEO optimises websites for Google search. YouTube SEO optimises videos and channels for YouTube search, the home feed and recommendations. There, click-through rate, watch time and audience retention decide reach, not backlinks. Both complement each other, because well optimised videos also appear in Google results.
Does this work for YouTube Shorts as well?
Shorts follow different rules from long videos: they are shown almost exclusively through the Shorts feed and rarely through search. They are good for bringing new viewers to the channel. Lasting discoverability comes from the long videos. A good strategy combines both.
What does YouTube SEO cost?
It depends on the scope: whether it is a one-off audit, the re-optimisation of existing videos or ongoing support. After a first conversation you receive a quote tailored to your needs. The pricing factors are explained in the guide on what YouTube SEO costs.
